We are delighted to announce that:
B-Movie: Lust & Sound in West-Berlin + Live Q&A with Mark Reeder at Infest 2026
Following the popularity of last year’s film screening, Infest’s Friday afternoon movie programme returns for 2026 with a very special presentation of B-Movie: Lust & Sound in West-Berlin, accompanied by an exclusive live Q&A with Mark Reeder.
More than just a documentary, B-Movie is a remarkable journey through one of the most fascinating periods in alternative music history. Through a unique combination of archive footage, personal stories and first-hand experience, the film chronicles Mark Reeder’s adventures after leaving Manchester in the late 1970s to immerse himself in the extraordinary underground culture of West Berlin.
Part time capsule, part music documentary and part cultural history lesson, B-Movie captures a city divided by politics but united by creativity, where punk, post-punk, industrial music, experimental art and the earliest foundations of electronic music culture flourished in the shadow of the Berlin Wall.
Manchester to Berlin
Born and raised in Manchester, Mark Reeder was part of the city’s original punk explosion before relocating to West Berlin in 1978. What followed was a decade-long journey through one of the most vibrant underground scenes in modern cultural history. As a musician, promoter, manager, sound engineer, Factory Records representative and later founder of the influential MFS label, Reeder found himself at the heart of countless pivotal moments in alternative music.
The film features appearances from figures including Nick Cave, New Order, Gudrun Gut, Blixa Bargeld, WestBam, not to mention the celebrated journalist; The Tube’s Muriel Gray, while documenting the emergence of the creative movements that would eventually influence everything from post-punk and industrial music, through to techno, trance and modern electronic culture.

Following the screening, Infest attendees will have the rare opportunity to join an exclusive live Q&A session with Mark Reeder himself.
