Infest are hugely honoured to announce that Peter Hook & The Light will be our special guests headlining the first ever Thursday of InFest, the UK’s premier alternative electronic music festival which takes place for the 20th time across the August Bank Holday weekend this year.
Playing what the band call a hybrid set, taking in material from Hook’s three decade career with both of his seminal bands, Joy Division and New Order, the legendary and hugely influential bassist also takes an in depth look at the bands catalogue in these sets, performing fan favourites, album tracks and B-Sides along with the hits which defined both band and his career.
The Light have toured the albums from Hooky’s previous bands for almost eight years now, and following their appearance at Infest they will be performing New Order’s late Eighties and early Nineties albums “Technique” and “Republic” in September 2018, both of which were considered the band’s most electronic leaning albums.
The Light have also just completed a widely acclaimed world tour performing both “Substance” albums of Joy Division and New Order across North and South America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. With a wide repertoire of classics from both bands including the likes of “Love Will Tear Us Apart”, “These Days”, “Transmission” and more from Joy Division.
The band have also recently fully sold out concerts including The Roundhouse in Camden, Manchester Academy amongst many others both in the UK and internationally so the appearance at Infest is expected to be much in demand and sell quickly.
Within the New Order tracks performed by The Light are the seminal and ground breaking electronica of “Blue Monday”, still the biggest ever selling 12 inch, “Bizarre Love Triangle”, “Fine Time” as the band with their celebrated output throughout the Eighties came to define the emergent dance and electronic music culture of the time, in part due to their co-ownership of Manchester’s infamous Hacienda nightclub.
To hear the sounds that brought first brought proto-electronic dance music to UK bands, that spawned the Hacienda generation and that has remained a constant inspiration to millions of music fans the world over, due to the innovation and influence, then you need to join us to catch Peter Hook & The Light at INFEST.
